Our story
VAPortfolio started with a problem I had seen over and over again.
My name is Sadiq Umar, and I started my own journey into freelancing without much knowledge of the online world.
After graduating with a Diploma in Marketing in 2013, I spent several years working traditional jobs. In 2019, I started looking for a way to earn additional income online.
I discovered freelancing, made plenty of mistakes, started over, learned new skills, and eventually built a successful career as a virtual assistant.
Over time, I became a full-time virtual assistant, working with clients online and building skills across areas like administration, web design, marketing, project management, and content creation.
Today, I also create content teaching people how to build careers in virtual assistance and the broader digital economy.
I've seen firsthand how much easier it is to convince a potential client when you can actually show them what you can do.
But I've also seen how difficult it can be for beginners to create something professional enough to showcase their skills.
Many aspiring VAs know they need a portfolio, but they don't know where to start.
They create PDFs in Canva. They put samples in Google Drive. They try to build websites with WordPress. They use generic portfolio builders that weren't designed for virtual assistants.
And sometimes, they simply give up.
I thought there had to be a simpler way.
So we built VAPortfolio
I created VAPortfolio with a simple idea:
What if a virtual assistant could create a professional portfolio in a few minutes, without knowing anything about website design?
That's what we're building.
VAPortfolio gives virtual assistants ready-to-use portfolio templates and the tools they need to present their services, skills, experience, work samples, certifications, testimonials, and contact information in one professional place.

Sadiq Umar
Sadiq is a virtual assistant, entrepreneur, and content creator from Nigeria.
After discovering freelancing and eventually building a full-time career as a virtual assistant, he began creating educational content to help other people discover legitimate opportunities in the digital economy.
Today, his YouTube channel has grown to more than 70,000 subscribers, where he shares practical content about virtual assistance, freelancing, digital skills, and building a career online.
VAPortfolio is one of the products he created to solve a problem he has encountered repeatedly while helping aspiring and working virtual assistants.
