Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information VAPortfolio ("we", "us") collects when you use vaportfolio.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain on purpose. If anything is unclear, email us at support@vaportfolio.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, your username and your password. Passwords are stored in scrambled (hashed) form; we can never see them.
- Portfolio content: everything you add in the editor, such as your name, title, about text, services, portfolio items, certifications, testimonials, contact details, links, photos, logo and screenshots.
- Messages you send us: if you use our contact form, your name, email address and message. They are delivered to our support inbox through our email provider and used only to reply to you.
- Visits to portfolios: when someone opens a published portfolio, we count the visit, the website they came from (such as LinkedIn) and their country, worked out from their IP address. We don't store IP addresses, don't use cookies for this, and the counts can't identify anyone. Portfolio owners see these totals in their visitor stats.
- Messages sent from a portfolio: if a portfolio has a contact form, the visitor's name, email address and message are emailed straight to the portfolio's owner through our email provider. We don't keep a copy.
- Payments: if you buy Pro, your payment is handled by our payment provider. We never see or store your full card number; we keep your plan, renewal date and the payment provider's reference for your subscription.
- Technical information: basic logs our hosting providers keep automatically, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. We use these to keep the service running and secure.
- If you sign in with Google: your name and email address from your Google account. We don't get access to anything else in your Google account.
Your public portfolio
When you publish your portfolio, everything on it can be seen by anyone with the link and may appear in search engines. Only add information you're happy to share publicly. Your email address is only shown on your portfolio if you add it to the Contact section yourself. You can unpublish your portfolio from your dashboard at any time.
If you add other people's names, photos or words (for example in testimonials), you are responsible for having their permission.
How we use your information
- To create and run your account and show your portfolio.
- To send emails you need, such as confirming your email address and resetting your password.
- If you choose to get tips and updates, to send you advice on getting clients, news about VAPortfolio and offers. You can turn these off at any time in your account settings or with the unsubscribe link in any of these emails.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
- To understand how the service is used and improve it.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Services that help us run VAPortfolio
We use trusted providers to run the service. They only process your information to provide their service to us:
- Hosting, storage and email providers: to run the website, store accounts, portfolios and images, and send account emails and, if you chose to get them, tips and updates.
- Google: sign-in, only if you choose "Sign in with Google".
- YouTube, Loom or Vimeo: if you add a video, it plays from that service, which may set its own cookies for visitors.
These providers may store information on servers outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union.
Cookies
We only use the cookies needed to keep you logged in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account from your dashboard, we delete your account, your portfolio and your uploaded images straight away. Copies in our providers' backups and logs are removed on their normal schedules, usually within 30 days.
Your rights
You can see and change your portfolio information at any time in the editor, unpublish it, or delete your account. You can also ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by emailing support@vaportfolio.com. Depending on where you live, laws such as the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 or the EU's GDPR give you these rights.
Children
VAPortfolio is for professionals aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes, we'll tell you by email or in your dashboard.
